What comes next is up to you

I am always writing something that never gets finished, so I figured I’d pull one out and let you guys finish it, or at least give the next verse.  There’s no right or wrong here, this isn’t a contest.  I’ll keep taking entries until 11:59pm US EST Friday the 31 of Jan.  Once all entries are in, I’ll publish them all. Here’s the first verse (stanza), feel free to enter as many verses you think are needed to complete the poem.  I hope to get a lot of entries.

knock on my door at dinner time
and invite yourself in, as if you didn’t know,
later, ask for more wine and get comfortable
on the couch saying “you can watch any show”
it isn’t obvious to me that you like me yet,
but you know where this is going

  2. admittedly a bit trite but it’s tired and i’m trying to be more easy-going. normally, poetry is something private, so here goes nothing.

knock on my door at dinner time
and invite yourself in, as if you didn’t know,
later, ask for more wine and get comfortable
on the couch saying “you can watch any show”
it isn’t obvious to me that you like me yet,
but you know where this is going

    tired, torn and easily bruised,
you attack me with your words
I’m used up, broken by your taunts of hope
    but still
i wait for your next move.

You’ll always know where to sit, how to provoke
And I’ll always open the door
No matter what I know is on the other side

And I’ll let you devour me in pain and sorrow
    You are my demon,
You are the best I’ve ever known

I sit on the couch and I realize
    I am all alone.
