The Plunge

Late at night
When I’ve done everything I can,
Everything I can…

I make friends
With my…

Whatever you want to call them

We come to agreements
We make promises
We swear that
Things will be
ALL BETTER
When the sun
Comes ’round again

AND I BELIEVE IT!!!!
every time

In fact,
It doesn’t even wait until dawn

The plunge is painful,
Long and shameful,
I am surprised every time
At how much I loose
How much I cover up
For the sake of living
A “normal” existence

When I think
It has come to
It’s shaky end
When the random attacks
On my psyche
Have stopped…

Only then do I dare
To sit back and wheeze
Through stunted breaths,
How thankful I am
To be alive,
No matter how
Monumental the task
May have been

A Kiss

If if were real
And I could hold it in your hand
That would be a blessing
For my reality

When you become actual
A little at a time
I can kiss tiny pieces
Until you are whole

As time draws circles
Around our embrace
Slowly tightening it’s grasp,
I rejoice amidst the pressure
Squeezing us into one

When when has space
Enough to breathe
I inhale deeply
Filling my entire being
With you

Now is then
When we first were we
Fighting through a wave
For something
We might have known
Would set us on a path
To somewhere
We still exist

I stay awake all week
Dreaming of you
And when we finally meet
Those words
That changed our course
Forever
A kiss

I am not sleeping

I am not sleeping
Because I am watching you
Furrowed brow
Hands clenched
You shudder and shake
Whisper parts of words
I try to decipher them
But they are gone too soon
I can’t resist
My finger softly
Across your cheek
Sometimes brings a faint smile
I want to put my arms around you
But stop myself
Not wanting to disturb you
I am not sleeping
My dream is right here
In front of me

Imagine

Imagine
All the words
I have in me
To tell the world
About you

Imagine
Notes
To string together
In brilliant crescendos
Forming
The symphony
Of us

Imagine
Light falling
Through mist
Colors running
On your upturned
Face
What a masterpiece
You are to me

Imagine
Sparks
Flying into
Infinite night
Leaving
Stars
As enduring
As we are

Imagine
Infinite dreams
Built on
Abiding love
And you will have only
Scratched the surface
Of everything
We can be

These Words

These words say everything
Boiled down to its essence
These words say nothing
Scummy leavings in the bottom of a pan
These words are outrageous
Read through the filter of the Bazaar
These words are joyous
Carried by the voices of the Sunday choir
These words float on the breeze
Sweet scents on butterfly wings
These words hold your hand
Warm solace in the deep deep night
These words are ephemeral
Catch them quick before they’re gone
These words are matter of fact
Listen if you want to hear the truth
These words cost me everything
You may have them for a song

My Hand

My hand was open to you
Asking you to go my way
Neither of us following

Knowing we were equal

My hand was open to you
Not to strike, but caress
Tracing the lines and angles

I have grown to know

My hand was open to you
And a quiet word escaped my lips
Asking you to take it from me

A forever promise

My hand was open to you
You took it and held it and kissed it
Rubbed it across your cheek

Collecting tears, and bringing smiles

My hand was open to you

In more ways than I can count

My hand is open to you

Now, and forever more
